My Simple Love of Making Things….

Hi Everyone
Over at Stampotique this week is ‘Its all love and hearts.’
This canvas came to me yesterday morning as I got up and I quickly went and wrote down what I saw in my head.
I started with an old canvas I purchased from a charity shop for £1.
I then covered it in White Gesso and let it dry.
I then made a stencil from a Marianne Design Die of a brick wall and put moulding paste through it using it as a stencil onto the canvas and let it set.  The embossing folder that came with the die I put through my E Bosser and then added acrylic paint over the top in gold, silver and bronze to give an ‘antique’ feel to it.
I then added some Tim Holtz ‘words’ tissue paper onto the canvas with clear gesso.
The flowers I made from scraps of decorative cardstock, some WOW embossing glitters and a Cuttlebug Quilled Chrysanthemum die.

I spritzed the canvas with Ranger Inks, and Dylusions.
The cogs are a sizzix die called thinlits ‘Rondeaux’  I then put them through a ‘distress’ Crafters Comapnion Embossing folder giving a distressed look and again added acrylic paint on top in the same colours as before.
The words are made from cardboard.
‘JAMMIN’ was coloured in with Distress pens and cut out.
The pocket he is in was found on a coat my daughter purchased and it had a plastic tag on it. I used a hot glue gun to stick the items on it as I thought they would be a little heavy for normal glue.  I started by decorating it with odd strips of material I have in my stash, then added some nuts and bolts from my husbands stash, an old key, cork, bottle top, woodchip butterfly and dragonfly, a heart embellishment, a small cotton reel, a peg, dowling and washers. (PHEW!).  I then covered everything with black Gesso and let it dry.  I then got a piece of sponge and my embossing ink refil bottle and dabbed the ink onto the sponge all over the black Gesso.  I then got my mica powders and dabbed them all over the embellishments.  I then glued the tag onto the canvas.
At Tim Hotz this month is the title My Simple Love of Making Things  and I think this about sums my canvas up with my FAB tag!
Hope I have inspired you to have a rummage through your bits and bobs!
I am also entering this into the monthly challenge over at the Craft Stamper Magazine of ‘Stenciling’
