Buzz at the NEC….

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from NEC, Birmingham. Lots of wonderful people, lots of questions about embossing, helping people to choose the right product and the most popular items, I got questions about were the wedding stationary designed by Sarah Rhodes from the Design Team at WOW (see blog 26.3.2012 for instructions), the jewellery making and the ‘life stones’ I made.

So without further ado I have published the instructions below for making a simple necklace. The life stones instructions will come in the next few weeks.

Please don’t forget to vote for me in the Heartfelt Creations Design Team Final (see Hot off the Press post).

Materials Used:

  • Small metal pie dishes
  • 1 x jewellery bail
  • 1 x jump rings
  • 1 x memory wire necklace
  • Wire cutters
  • Seed beads of your choice
  • 1 x tub of WOW  Ultra thick Embossing Powder – Clear
  • 2 x small pots of WOW embossing powder (any colour you wish)
  • WOW Silicone mould of your choice

Take the jewellery bail and make sure it fits at the back of the mould you have comfortably as you don’t want the bail sticking out of the jewellery at the bottom.
Take a pie dish/melting pot and melt 3 teaspoons of ultra-thick and 1 of each colour you wish in the dish until totally melted. Once melted and if you have used more than 1 colour just give it a swirl to mix the colours a little.  This will give a swirl effect in your jewellery.  This will take approximately 5 mins.
Pour into the silicone moulds add the bail and leave to cool.  Do not worry if you have not put the bail in before the powder has set, just leave the item in the mould, re heat the back for a couple of seconds to soften the embossing powder and insert the jewellery finding.
Take out of the mould.  If you like the end result, decide on the seed beads you are going to place at each side of the piece of jjewellery. If you don’t, heat the rear of the jewellery and take out the finding.  Place the hard embossed jewellery back into the pie dish and reheat.  Repeat steps 1 – 5.
Please note the more times you put the powder back into the pie dish the more intense the colour will be and if you use more than 1 colour they will eventually become 1 colour.
Start to feed seed beads onto your memory wire, then put the made piece in the middle followed by more beads.( I have shown a necklace and bracelet made with the instructions).
